This is not the zombie apocalypse. Or is it? Seriously though. How could this be happening?
I just took a big exhale posing that question. In fact, it feels like I’ve been holding my breath for weeks now. I find myself asking, “What day is it again?” at least once every morning. I don’t know if it’s just me, but time is doing weird things at the moment.
Ghandi said, ‘In a gentle way, you can shake the world.’ But what if the world starts shaking you?
My emotions range from fear and sadness as well as hopefulness, gratitude and peace. There are tears and there are frustrations. There is also much love.
I’ve realised that there is now more time in our days for introspection and curiosity. For me, I am reflecting on this experience and the opportunity to look inwards. To be thoughtful and embrace the moments of humanity and kindness. To reflect on what I am grateful for.
It seems this lockdown has people reacquainting themselves with banana bread. I’ve been whipping up my own variation on the old faithful with a good dose of dark chocolate. That and people seem to be flocking to their gardens in droves.
‘Poco a poco’. It’s a saying in Spain and means ‘little by little’.
These will be the saddest of times but all things pass. Good times, bad times, nothing ever stays the same. The tide will come back in, it always does. Until then, let’s all keep breathing and remember Ghandi – to not underestimate the little things that can make a big difference.
